Latest Technology Wandering Prevention Devices

The current troubling times and mandated stay-in-place order bring to light the importance of being able maintain the proper care of loved ones from a distance. Fortunately, there have been several new developments in technological devices to help caregivers monitor the safety and well-being of their loved one with dementia. My goal is to continue to research, develop and share a resource library of monitoring devices to provide you with continuous support for caring for your loved one from a distance.


One of the most prominent developments in this field is monitoring devices which offer assistance and surveillance to wandering. Do you know that 6 out of 10 individuals with dementia wander?  The cause of wandering is dementia often causes older adults to become confused or lost in both familiar and unfamiliar places.
Here is a resource of tracking devices to locate someone who wanders. It’s important to conduct adequate research to find the best and most reliable option for you and your loved one. Please note that I am not endorsing any one product.
As a reminder, please keep in mind that when you know the location of the person who has wandered, the first step is to immediately notify the local police to start the search. Do not initiate searching on your own, the police have a proper protocol utilizing a patrol, which saves time.
